What is Swiftwater?

Any time water is flowing faster than you can swim, it creates a multitude of new risks, collectively we refer to these environments as swiftwater. This includes obvious white water features like rapids, whirlpools and waterfalls but also more understated features like smooth flowing bends, under cuts and recirculation.

Swiftwater Rescue Training

Swiftwater Rescue is the foundation for all river training courses. On this courrse you will learn:

  • Proper use of river safety equipment

  • Recognising hazards on the river and how to manage those risks

  • Working as a team to minimise risk

  • How to self rescue from minor hazards

  • How to rescue your crewmates when they get in trouble

Raft / Rescue Boat Operations

Learn the skills to be a valuable and adaptable crew member on an inflatable craft:

  • Safety procedures in rafts / rescue boats

  • Fundamental strokes and teamwork

  • Raft specific rescue skills

Raft / Rescue Boat Pilot

Building on the skills from the Raft / Rescue Boat Operations course, learn the skills to lead a boat team safely in a swiftwater environment.

  • Launching and landing procedures

  • Coordinating your team

  • Manage complex rescue situations
